Sludge drying has become a crucial step in order for sludge to be recirculated back into the economy as resources. However, the current drying process which uses directing heating is a problem as it requires lots of fuel and contributes to carbon emissions. This is why solar dryer has become the up and coming sustainable solution.
The solar drying system utilizes solar energy to heat up air and to dry any food substance loaded, which is beneficial in reducing wastage of agricultural product and helps in preservation of agricultural product.
The core component of a drying plant is a turning and conveying machine that extends over the entire width of the hall – the WendeWolf®. It distributes, turns and transports the sludge automatically and is operated via a panel. The world’s largest solar sludge drying plant in Nicaragua was designed and conceived by us.
Conventional sludge dryers require over 800 kWh per ton of water removed. The WendeWolf® requires 20-30 kWh of electrical power. The remaining energy share is supplied by the sun in the form of free radiant energy.
