In this work, as a contribution, a decentralized but synchronized real-world smart battery management system has been designed using a Cerbo GX general controller with networking communication capability and cloud data processing access, four charge regulators, and a sensorized smart battery monitor with networking and Bluetooth capabilities.
The system used is a paradigmatic real-world example of the so-called intelligent battery management systems. One of the contributions made in this work is the realization of a distributed design of a BMS, which adds the benefit of increased system security compared to a fully centralized BMS structure.
Battery management is critical to enhancing the safety, reliability, and performance of the battery systems. This paper presents a cloud battery management system for battery systems to improve the computational power and data storage capability by cloud computing.
Currently, BMSs can be utilized as distributed control systems for real-world applications when general controllers, charge regulators, and smart monitors and sensors are integrated, such as those suggested in this work, which enable more accurate estimations of the battery’s electrical parameters.
Cloud battery management system By bridging the physical and the virtual world, digital twin allows the virtual entity to the battery systems simultaneously with the seamless transmission of data. Compared with the onboard BMS, the cloud BMS has advantages in both hardware and software, as summarized in Table 1.
